If we had to describe our brand in one word, it would be quiet.
If we were a movie, we would be something by Sofia Coppola or Eric Rohmer; something quietly emotional where nothing much happens, and yet, everything happens; something characterized by its use of color.
Or maybe we would be a drily humorous talkie like Whit Stillman's Metropolitan or something equally pretentious. Or maybe the name of the film The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie rather than the actual film itself — we're more realist than surrealist.
If we were a musical style, we would be yacht rock in case you couldn't tell from the pastels. If we were a vacation destination, we would be Cap Ferret over Cap Ferrat, St Mawes over St Tropez. If we were a restaurant, we would be someplace neighborhoody over anything with a star. If we were a book, we would be Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit, albeit the CliffsNotes version. We never left college, college left us.
The name Serses is derived from Circe, the herbalist of Greek mythology, although we pronounce it as a combination of search and seas. We have one objective: to create products of superlative quality. What does quality mean to us? Comfort, softness on skin, durability, and minimal ecological impact.
In ancient writing, squares had a rich symbolism representing the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water. We use the square in our logo to symbolize our grounding in the natural world.
Serses is founded by Kylie and Mark, two siblings seeking quietude in London and New York. Our brand is based in London.
